Community safety is at the heart of everything we do. To provide further assurance about the fire ant treatment products used in our eradication efforts, we engaged SLR Consulting Australia to independently review their potential impacts on human health.
The review examined scientific literature, technical reports, and evidence from the US National Library of Medicine. It found no peer-reviewed published evidence linking our treatment products to multiple chemical sensitivity or allergies and concluded they pose minimal risk to human health when used as directed.
The active ingredients used in our treatments, including pyriproxyfen and S-methoprene, have been used safely worldwide for decades. They are also assessed and approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority before use in Australia.
We remain committed to sharing the science behind our operations and providing access to independent information about fire ant treatments.
While the review reinforces the safety of our treatment products, fire ants remain a serious threat. Their venom can cause painful stings, severe allergic reactions and, in rare cases, life-threatening anaphylaxis.
These findings provide further confidence that our treatments remain a safe, effective, and essential tool in protecting communities and supporting Australia's efforts to eradicate fire ants.
