It is important you report any suspect ants or nests you find

Significant detections

When fire ants are found outside the current known infested area, they are prioritised for urgent treatment. We undertake intensive delineation surveillance surrounding the nest, out to 500m, and then check areas with suitable fire ant habitat out to 2km.

We also collect samples of the ants for genetic testing to help understand where they may have spread from and how (natural spread or human-assisted movement).
