The National Fire Ant Eradication Program is currently undergoing a scheduled, independent end-of-tranche review. These routine reviews provide external assessments of progress at key stages.
This review will assess areas such as delivery of program milestones, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and the resourcing required to continue the program.
General Manager for Program Performance and Business Services Toni Stiles says the program is one of the most reviewed in Australia.
“The program has undergone multiple independent reviews since its inception in 2001,” she said.
“End-of-tranche reviews assesses the implementation of the Fire ant response plan 2023-27 and act as formal milestones for the program.”
This is not a technical review of the program’s feasibility and efficacy. Instead, it ensures accountability and strong governance practices.
The review is expected to be delivered by December 2025.
