PestXpert Nest Kill Granular Ant Bait and Synergy Pro Ant Bait

  • Active ingredients:  Pyriproxyfen 2.5g/kg and Hydramethylnon 3.65g/kg
  • Specific purpose according to APVMA:  Treatment of larger areas, including residential yards (Permit 88626)
  • How and when to apply: Up to 2 applications per year over spring and summer with at least a 4-week interval between treatments.  Apply using the supplied shaker or a handheld shaker/spreader.
  • Expected results: Nests should start to die within several weeks of treatment. Colony death can take up to 8 weeks.

Distance Plus Ant Bait

  • Active ingredients: Pyriproxyfen 5g/kg
  • Specific purpose according to APVMA: Treatment of larger areas, including residential yards.
  • How and when to apply: Up to 3 applications per year at 12-week intervals in spring, summer, and autumn. Apply using the supplied shaker or a handheld shaker/spreader. If applied regularly, you are unlikely to see visible fire ant nests develop in your yard.
  • Expected results: Product can take 3-6 months to kill visible and active nests.

Amdro Granular Ant Bait

  • Active ingredient: Hydramethylnon 7.3 g/kg
  • Specific purpose according to APVMA: Treatment of larger areas, including residential yards. Can also be used to treat individual nests.
  • How and when to apply: At least a 4-week interval between applications. Apply using the supplied shaker or a handheld shaker/spreader. When treating individual nests, use 50 g or approximately 5 large tablespoons per nest.
  • Expected results: Nests should start to show signs of death within several days of treatment. If visible nests are still active 5 weeks after applying treatment, retreatment will be necessary to kill nests.

Advion Fire Ant Bait

  • Active ingredients: Indoxacarb 0.45g/kg
  • Specific purpose according to APVMA: Treatment of larger areas, including residential yards. Can also be used to treat individual nests (label 66532).
  • How and when to apply: Up to 4 applications per year, typically at 12–16-week intervals. Apply using the supplied shaker or a handheld shaker/spreader. When treating individual nests, use 15 g or approximately 4 level tablespoons per nest.
  • Expected results: Nests should start to show signs of dying within several days of treatment. If visible nests are still active 5 weeks after applying treatment, retreatment will be necessary to kill the nests.

Amgrow Patrol Fire Ant Killer Granules

  • Active ingredients: Fipronil 0.25g/kg
  • Specific purpose according to APVMA: Treatment of fire ants nests found around the home.
  • How and when to apply: Apply to areas where ants are active. Apply directly on and around fire ant nests. When treating individual nests, the higher listed rate of 15 g/m2 is recommended, applied in at least a 1m radius of the nest (approximately 50g per nest).
  • Expected results: Nests should start to show signs of dying within several days of treatment. If treated nests are still active 5 weeks after applying the granules, retreatment will be necessary to kill the nests. Reapplication may also be considered prior to that. Will give some residual control to the treated area.

Topbait Knock-on Fire Ant Bait

  • Active ingredients: Hydramethylnon 10g/kg
  • Specific purpose according to APVMA: A gel treatment for individual fire ant nests.
  • How and when to apply: Using a syringe or scoop, apply 4g to each nest and replenish as required. Gel placements should be near active nests to ensure sufficient consumption or foraging of treatment. Use treatment stations where necessary to avoid contamination or accidental removal. Do not place treatment stations where it is unsafe to do so (i.e. directly onto the top of fire ant nests). Weekly gel applications may be required for 3 or more weeks before the treated nest is killed.
  • Expected results: 3 to 6 treatments should be sufficient to kill most nests.

Report any suspect ants or nests you find.

You must report suspect fire ants or nests within 48 hours.
